Sara DeLong, Elementary Principal

 

Sara DeLong’s journey in education is a testament to her dedication, faith, and love for both her family and her students. With 19 years of experience, Sara’s path has been anything but ordinary. She began her career teaching science and math to 5th graders at Higgins Middle School before transitioning to Otken, where she taught 1st grade for four years and kindergarten for one year. During her time at Otken, she pursued her master’s degree in elementary education.

 

Sara’s career took a pivotal turn when she was invited to interview for a position at North Pike, following encouragement from Becky Morgan to explore a career in administration. At North Pike, Sara spent five years teaching second grade, while working on her specialist degree in educational administration. However, life‘s blessings lead her to pause her administrative ambitions as she and her husband Will adopted their daughter Colbie,  and their son Campbell soon after.  Sara then chose to focus on her family, becoming a stay-at- home mom for three years.

 

A seemingly small event – Will picking up their kids from preschool and forgetting to register them for the next year – became a divine nudge. This lead Sara to Parklane Academy, where she found a place for her children, but also a new home for her career. After eight years of teaching at Parklane, Sara begins her first year administration as our elementary principal.

 

Sara believes deeply in God’s timing and has followed His guidance throughout her career. She views her work as part of a beautiful story woven by God for His glory, and she is committed to being bold and passionate for Christ in everything she does we are blessed to have her leader ship and dedication at Parklane Academy!
